Introducing the inMotion Staff…
K. Michelle Walker / Owner, Dance Co. Director & Instructor- Michelle teaches youth, teen and adult tap, jazz, ballet and modern dance. Michelle is a Newton native and has been dancing since the age of five. After graduating from Newton High School, Michelle spent 13 years in Chicago teaching, performing and studying the various forms of dance. She helped create and choreograph the Evanston Children’s Theatre, choreographed for the Bogg Children’s Theatre, choreographed for the Chicago Honey Bears, performed in a “Just Say No” group called “The Explosonic Rockers”, and created and choreographed a children/teen dance company called “Legs in Motion”. In 1990 she received a BA in dance from Columbia College of Chicago with an emphasis on performance, choreography and teaching. Michelle enjoys spending time with her daughter Kleo, family and friends.
Tiffany Lerhman / Office Manager & Instructor - Tiffany teaches youth & teen ballet, point, tap, jazz and tumbling. Tiffany has been dancing and tumbling for over 22 years! She has kept educated with her dance backround by taking classes herself and attending yearly dance conventions. Tiffany loves working with kids and enjoys watching them grow and develop in their dance and tumbling skills. When Tiffany is not dancing she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and husband Andy.
Heather Ross / Instructor - Heather teaches youth & teen jazz & tumbling. Heather has been dancing and tumbling since she was three! She enjoys taking classes to keep involved and learn new dance technique. She has competed and attended many national tumbling competitions and clinics. Heather works full time Jasper County Treasurer’s office and coaches the Newton High School Cheerleaders. Heather loves spending time with her husband Lance, daughter Addison, family and friends.
Amanda Heck / Instructor, Dance Company Choreographer- Amanda teaches pre, youth & teen hip hop, jazz, tap ballet and is the dance company choreographer. Amanda has been dancing 17 years and this is her sixth year as an instructor for inMotion. Amanda enjoys attending dance conventions yearly as well as taking the Dance Company to performances and competitions. Amanda and her fiance Jordan live in Newton and enjoy spending time with their family and friends. More information about inMotion’s Dance Company can be found HERE.
Rose Farver / Inferno All Stars Director & Coach, Website Coordinator - Rose teaches/coachs the peewee, youth and teen cheerleading teams. Rose has been cheering since 1990! First as a high school cheerleader herself who competed at national competitions. In 2001 Rose became the director of the youth cheer program at inMotion. In 2002 – 2005 Rose was the head coach for Newton High-school where she enjoyed coaching the NHS cheerleaders to 11 first place finishes and 2 second place finishe in their division, 3rd place at UCA Midwest Regionals and three Spirit of Iowa grand champion titles. As a member of the Iowa Cheer Coaches Assoc. Rose stays current with today’s cheerleading standards, rules, guidelines and techniques. Rose has also received additional certification in cheer safety and stunting from the Universal Cheerleading Assoc. When not coaching or working for Re/Max of newton as a Realtor® Rose enjoys spending time with her husband Chris and two children Jordyn and Camden. Traci Schutty / Instructor- Traci danced for 15 years at Patty’s School of Dance. She studied tap, jazz, ballet and pointe. Traci is a graduate of Newton High School and was a member of the NHS Pacesetter Drill team. During her senior year Traci served as captain of the Pacesetters. After graduating Traci taught kick clinics to other high school drill teams. In 2005 Traci became the coach and director of the NHS Pacesetters and has enjoyed working with the group greatly. Traci graduated from the University of Iowa in 2002 with a BA in Political Science and currently works at Principal Financial Group. When not teaching or coaching Traci enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
Jerrica Umbarger / Inferno Asst. Coach – Jerrica teaches/coachs youth & teen cheerleading. Jerrica has been cheering for over seven years! As a Newton cheerleader she cheered for football, basketball and wrestling. Jerrica was also a member of the NHS competition squad which under Coach Rose Farver placed first 11 times in 3 years including a third place UCA Midwest Regionals finish and three time CSA Spirit of Iowa Grand Champions. Jerrica was also a member of the NHS 4 Girl stunt team which earned several first place trophies and much recognition for their advanced stunting skills. In 2003 Jerrica was chosen to be a UCA All Star Cheerleader. She got to travel to New York City and perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. In 2004 Jerrica was captain of the Newton Cheerleaders and traveled with her fellow captains to take part in the Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas Parade. Jerrica has been assisting coach Rose for 4 years now and is having a lot of fun sharing her love of cheerleading and competition.
